Burlesque Idol Feb 18

Yes a couple of Fridays ago it was Burlesque Idol at the Hippodrome in London.

It was AMAZING, I couldn’t believe how good it was. The winner Miss Whisky Twist was surrounded by so much talent that the shone with greatness. Ok, that’s a crap line but if you have never been to Burlesque Idol you def need to get your arse down there.

Here are some of my fave pics.

Next Friday is the next heat, get yourself down to the Hippodrome.

The Joy of Boylesque

Most people probably think about Burlesque as just being a female activity. In many cases it is, however there is a strong and sometimes hilarious stream of male burlesque, known as Boylesque.

In the January heat of Burlesque Idol, not only the winner but the runner up were both Boylesque performers. You might have never seen Boylesque before and if you haven’t here are some of my own photographs from the last couple of year’s Burlesque Idol.

Burlesque Idol – January 2018

Burlesque Idol season has started again. I had expected the Burlesque to be of a really huge standard, but I wasn’t prepared for amazing it was going to be.

Right from the word go the quality was outstanding, the spectacle made my head hurt, from the first competitor to the Judge’s performance. The performance of the Judge Dave the Bear made my eyes bleed a bit and it is good to see a bloke who is as hairy as me take to the stage sans kit.

If you haven’t been to Burlesque Idol, why not? The next show is the 4th Feb and you really need to look at yourself very hard if you are considering not going.

Fleet St Beckons

Ok, yes I know that Fleet St, is now just a street without any newspapers on it, but the excitement of getting your photos into a Fleet St national newspaper is very strong. This week, it happened not just once but twice. Well on the website anyway.

This week was the Final of Burlesque Idol took place on Friday and the pics will follow. On Friday Tempest Rose, the owner of the House of Burlesque and awesome producer of Burlesque Idol contacted me and asked if I could process some of the Burly Idol shots on the evening of the show.

So while waiting for the 03.30 train from Paddington home I was to be seen sitting in my large warm overcoat processing the best photos from the show. Tempest had also sent the paper a couple of the shots. I had taken from earlier shows.

The late evening paid off, the photos went over to Tempest at 05.00 when I could get back on the wifi. The results speak for themselves:

Burlesque Idol Oct 2017

As you can see I have got a bit behind on my posts.

October Burlesque Idol was an astounding event, there are no words really. The spectacle and the power of the performances was just amazing. How can you describe the show? Frankly, I don’t know but I do know that a picture tells a thousand words so lets stop talking and start showing the pics.

Burlesque Idol July

Hot, Steamy and full of excitement, and that was just the Hippodrome theatre, July saw the latest heat of Burlesque Idol. With only one more heat before the final the pressure was on for the performers to secure their place in November’s prestigious competition.

The competition was amazing, some of the acts were former House of Burlesque school of Burlesque graduates, some came from Burlesque circuits around the country. All of them were utterly amazing.

I particularly liked Purisa Kat’s amazing reverse strip

Purrsia Kitt

And Champagne Bubble’s political Burlesque.

These acts really caught my attention and the crowd really caught on quickly to what they were trying to say.

For shear chutzpah Petit Pois really stole the show as she went on to win with her cheeky act

For challenging, you only had to look at Valentino de Labaise and his Boylesque act

Wow! Just Wow

Last Friday saw me shooting the first heat of the amazing Burlesque Idol 2017 at the Hippodrome London.

The show was outstanding with Burlesque (and for the first time Boylesque) acts that challenged preconceptions and made you think. The winner of the heat Bonnie Knockers will certainly open your eyes if you are a bloke.

I have said it before and will say it again, I have to I need to get the word count up on this blog, if you haven’t been to Burlesque Idol before then you should go.

Its amazing

Nothing more to say.

Coming Soon: Burlesque Idol 2017

Yes the wait is nearly over and the 2017 season of Burlesque Idol is about to start. I loved being the house photographer for the 2016 season and the standard is outstanding.

The title picture is of Fifi von Tassel the 2017 winner. She was challenging and amazing, the picture gives a hint of how happy she was to be declared the winner.

If you love Burlesque, if you are interested in Burlesque, if you have never been to a Burlesque show and are sure that you will disapprove you should go, the shows will blow your mind. Last year’s performers were some of the best Burlesque that I have ever seen and I am sure that this year, the show will be even better.

Each heat will take place at the Hippodrome Theatre, Leicester Square which only adds to the majesty of the show. Tempest Rose and her team put on a show that will astound you.

Have a look at some of the pics I took last year by clicking on the photo below:
